Being located in the tropics, Maui remains sunny and cheery in December, with a bit of rain mostly confined to the island's North Shore. If you're craving a different holiday vacation this December where you can work up a tan and remain warm and toasty, then Maui would be perfect for you.

Aside from the beach weather and endless water activities, Maui also has special holiday activities you can enjoy. Here are some things you must do when you come to Maui in December:

Makawao, which means "Eye of the Forest" in the Hawaiian language, was first inhabited by the Polynesians more than a thousand years ago. From being the settlement of native hamlets and canoe workshops, it is now a renowned Paniolo town and a thriving arts community. For Hawaii's original inhabitants, Makawao was an important gateway to the forests of Upcountry Maui, as it is a transitional zone between the mid-dry land regions and the upper forest. Makawao town is half a kilometer above sea level, thus making it cooler than towns along the coast. It is also the biggest of the four small towns that comprise that part of Maui collectively  known as "Upcountry." 

Makawao is the last stop for adventurers going up the summit of the Haleakala volcano. Its two main streets are lined with old storefronts, which tell the story of a town built with pride and cherished by its residents. One of the most notable establishments is the Komoda Bakery which was opened in 1916 and has since been treating the town to its excellent bread and delicious cream puff. 

Maui is famous for its world-class white sand beaches, picturesque countryside, healthy food selection, and various water activities. Tons of tourists from all over the globe flock to this Hawaiian county to savor the warm tropical climate from May to August. During these peak tourism months, there is a crowd of visitors, and prices from food to accommodations are steeper. November is excellent if you want to savor all that Maui has to offer without breaking the bank.

Wailea’s 1,500 acres of land are bordered by majestic mountains and the Pacific Ocean. In ancient times, Hawaiians lived and planted sweet potatoes on the slopes of the mountains, Haleakala mauka. Then they would venture to the Pacific Ocean shores to fish for food. The Great Mahele land redistribution, proposed by King Kamehameha III in the 1830s and enacted in 1848, initiated the development of these slopes as a cattle-raising area which led to the eventual formation of the Ulupalakua Ranch. 

Hawaii is the only state in the US that is located in the tropics. It is famous for its beautiful sandy beaches, lush forests, and majestic volcanoes. Kula is the largest of the three districts in Upcountry Maui. It is located on the western slope of the dormant volcano Mount Haleakala. Kula's rolling terrain of mineral-rich volcanic soil and its temperate climate makes the region ideal for farming and ranching.

Kula is home to three large ranches -Haleakala Ranch, Kaonoulu Ranch, and Ulupalakua Ranch. The vast land is also known for its gardens, flower farms, goat dairy farm, coffee plantation, and sweet Maui onions. Kula Town has a few artsy stores selling local products and cute cafes and restaurants.

Kula is the ideal town for those looking to enjoy the scenic view of the islands of Maui without the hot, humid climate. Its rural vibe and mild temperature make Kula the go-to place for many full-time residents and visitors looking to escape the busy beach crowd. Here are a few things you need to know if you consider moving to Kula Town.

If you want a change in scenery in the coming new year, you might want to consider in moving to Kihei, Maui. 

If you have been to Kihei, one of your first impressions might have been something along the lines of “I want to move here one day!” and we can’t blame you because Kihei is the home of world-class beaches. 

If you think island life is for you and you want to be a local and not just a mere tourist, here are a few things you might want to know when it comes to condo living in Kihei, Maui.

Interest rates are currently low. We all know that property rates are continuing to appreciate over time. That’s why the best time to invest in a condo is now. If you want to have more assets, a condo on the island would be a great investment. There are many options - from studio units to spacious units. Budget is always a huge factor when choosing a place to live in, and you don’t have to worry about finding the right condo for you because Kihei offers a wide range of options. Kihei has both affordable studio units as well as luxurious and spacious units. 

Location. Almost all residential places love to put “5 minutes away from the beach!”, but Kihei locals know that everywhere truly is only 5 minutes away from the beach. Location-wise, Kihei has grocery stores, restaurants, etc., nearby. Basically, everything you need to live is within reach.

Convenience - in terms of the island’s beauty. Convenience may actually be both a pro and a con on this island. Wherever you choose to stay is already beautiful enough, but that should not stop you from exploring the whole island. You might be too content to go for a drive to other places on the island because you already have it where you are, but trust us when we say that every site is a different experience. 

The island vibe. The smell of the ocean breeze, the sound of the waves crashing, and the feeling of sand on your feet are all things that we covet and are part of the Kihei experience. Kihei has an overall laidback and relaxed feel in many ways. The locals, in particular, contribute to this feeling with the way they dress and interact with each other, and almost everyone knows someone on this island!

The weather. If you hate unpredictable weather, you will love it here. Summer and winter are not on extreme ends here. The sun shines most days in Kihei, and there is very little rain.

The suburbs are a go-to place. Since many homeowners are still working from home, you might want to consider changing your environment while you work from home. The suburban real estate market will likely remain a hot commodity until next year (and who knows until when). If you are considering a greater quality of life, then Kihei is ready to give it to you.
